SAE A Spinning and COTTON USA: Environmental Allies

Climate change is a concern that has led consumers to rethink the way they view industries. With more people aware of the relationship between sustainability and the products we use every day, the textile industry has an increasingly clear and important role to play in reducing its impact on the environment.
Stepping up to the challenge, COTTON USA has made the commitment to constantly innovate and improve. For decades, the 18,000 cotton farms in the United States that make up the COTTON USA alliance have been producing cotton sustainably.
In the past forty years, these American cotton farmers have redoubled their commitment: they have used 82% less water and 38% less energy. In addition, they have reduced the emission of greenhouse gases by 30%, and the loss soil to produce a bale by 31%.
Consumers are closely following the textile industry, and they are demanding transparency and traceability. In order to deliver it, the United States cotton industry created the US Cotton Trust Protocol, a series of new standards that ensure the sustainable cultivation of cotton.
These guarantees are transferred by COTTON USA to the textile chains of the world, and are an endorsement of these brands and their actions fighting against climate change.

One of COTTON USA’s licensees is SAE A Spinning, the world’s largest manufacturer and exporter of garments from Korea. SAE A Spinning began to work in Costa Rica in 2015, a setting that offers exceptional opportunities for sustainability.
Costa Rica sources 99% of its electricity from renewable resources: hydroelectric, geothermal, and wind plants.
In addition, the city of Cartago, where SAE A Spinning is located, is 1,400 meters above sea level and maintains an average temperature between 15 and 28 degrees Celsius and with constant humidity. These features provide optimal conditions for spinning operations and ensure high-quality finishes, which the company focuses on from the first steps of the production process.
SAE A Spinning prioritizes environmental sustainability at the same time it seeks customer satisfaction, a goal that it shares in common with the nation of Costa Rica. The country has committed to zero carbon emissions by 2050.
Together with COTTON USA, SAE A Spinning is taking steps toward a cleaner, more environmentally friendly future. Its entire operation works to lower its carbon footprint and improve every aspect of work in the direction of sustainability.
SAE A Spinning has plans for solar panels, and the construction of a system to store rainwater, which will allow it to supply about 70% of its annual water consumption.

Only the Best

SAE A Spinning works only with cotton from the United States, recognized worldwide for its quality, and because of its transparency. We know the path our cotton has traveled, from sowing to production, thanks to the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol.
Upcoming investments will increase the plant's capacity to adjust to an expected expansion of the local market and the development of the textile and clothing industry in Central America. The mission is to excel in reliability with efficiency and transparency in a safe and healthy environment.
